Curt, I really felt a need to fire up my flamethrower, but since
that gets us nowhere. I'll list my objections to an old topic
that will probably never die.

EM> Take into consideration the following
EM> a. Current suggested PO2 limits (1.6 Deco gas only) 1.4-1.45 Bottom Gas

I am really curious whose "suggested PO2 limits" these are? I am still
under the opinion that if 1.4 is the PPO2 for your dive your deco
should be the same - does it matter how deep you are when you drown due
to seizures? It sounds kinda hippocritical to me that part of your
dive is *safer* than the rest.

From what I've seen and heard on the net, there is no data supporting
the use of a ppO2 lower than 1.6. I would still love to hear some real
unbiased experiences at 1.6 that show that ppO2 to be the sole
factor in an incident. Even if there are a couple of incidents
out of thousands of dives you might want to keep in mind that there
will also be (and probably have been) incidents with ppO2 of 1.4.

I don't want to be reckless, but I also don't want to be paranoid
about safety concerns. If we are striving for ultimate safety
then stay out of the water. For me 1.6 is fine for the duration
of dives that I do. And I use 1.6 for the WHOLE dive, deco
and all. If I were to do a long exposure dive or a hard working
dive than I would probably use a lower ppO2 (as a result of the
discussions here on the net).

My $.02.
