Since my two posts last night I have also learned the following further information: 1. The Coast Guard Chopper left after 10 minutes of searching due to low fuel and did not return; 2. The body was found by a fishing boat, but not recovered and so the remaining divers had to do the recovery; 3. The bottom mix and air tanks each had 150psi left in them when recovered; 4. No sign of equipment failure; 5. When he left his "buddies" at 250fsw he made the correct gas switch, but had very little gas (bottom mix-a 72 cu.ft. pumped up to about 80 cu.ft); 6. He went down to just over 300fsw and turned horizontal and his buddies at 250fsw lost sight of him and his bubbles. 7. He was "in remission" but had some form of luekemia and left a wife of 15 years and two step daughters. 8. The death did not make the local papers or the LA Times today and I hope it doesn't hit the papers at all. I have not, intentionally, posted my thoughts about this dive, the dive plan, or the methods used especially for the site involved for personal reasons.
