Also, can they >fit EXTENDED RANGE ADVANCED WRECK PENETRATION on one card, or would >they have to use two, and how much would a person have to PAY for that. It depends on what you mean by "deep". I don't know about TDI, but IANTD offers a course called "advanced deep air" that takes students to 160 feet. Their follow-on course, called "advanced technical air" (or something like that) goes down to 190 feet. It's true that at depths like these, most divers feel narked to at least some degree, but given the cost of trimix it would probably be hard to justify the expense for such dives. I just took the ADA course and enjoyed it immensely. It is, in the technical world, an introductory course, probably the first place where students use doubles and carry all the other gear associated with technical diving. I was very interested in the effects of narcosis. I found that for me, the routine was similar on all dives: 1) go down the anchor line to the bottom 2) feel spaced out for a minute 3) realize that I was narked 4) pull it together 5) get on with the dive After I got to stage 5 I found that I was able to function properly (even though I'm certain I was still affected) but I didn't have the heady feeling of drunkeness that hit suddenly on reaching the bottom. My perception is that my memory was relatively unaffected, although I will grant that many on this list would not consider 160 feet to be deep enough to be debilitated by narcosis. I would be interested to know if other more experienced divers have the sort of physical reaction that I did. Tim
