Hi everyone!

As you probably know by now we have 2 official participants so far: DECON and
ABYSS.

At this point we are working on defining what profiles will be simulated.
Both Chris adn Ronnie have been very cooperative. I'll be providing results
based on NAVY tables for comparison (I won't be able to account for the He on
the trimix)

Since we will be dealing with a smaller :) , but quite generous number of
profiles, we want to personalize them. Some of the ideas that came up so far
are:

 - a couple of NE wrecks, may be a U boat and a 180 footer
 - may be the Lusitania, the same profiles described in the
   last Aquacorps
 - a week of caves - 3 to 4 days - repetitive on mix (your
   dream vacation!)
 - a couple of down to earth profiles, the kind that people
dive on popular sites and how they rate against the
simulation. Have you ever wonder about last Sunday's...
 - a couple of profiles that resulted in light bends (or
may be not so light, but with lots of pretty fish...)
and how they score against the simulation.
 - ...

Although we might not run all the of above, we would like your feedback. Not
only in terms of ideas, but defining the profiles themselves (bottom time,
deco/no deco, ascent/descent rates, mixes, water temperature, work load, air
consumption...) Keep in mind that the objective is to have a fair idea of the
performance of these programs, and not to get free tables.

The participants will get all dive details and pick the algorithms and choose
the parameters for each simulation. They will have the opportunity of
including a technical description of their product < of a pre determined
size
:) > and the considerations they made when running the profiles if they so
desire. The product description piece may be reviewed in advance by other
participants (a change to even out the intro). Results will be posted in
techdiver and WWW sites that volunteer.

We would like to see more people involved and may be other programs MIG,
PROPLAN, DPA, Dr.X ... If you would like to see any particular table, let us
know and we'll try to accommodate it. We want to be informative and fair.
All I wrote is subject to discussion. Feel free to send in your comments. :)

Safe Diving, Ed <hoo@in*.ne*>
