Brian, even if Mouth and the Slob wanted to do anything correctly, which they would have to get outside help to explain that to them, they can not because the mail order assholes they have in their mile-long list of "instructors" merely go to whomever has the least requirements. If Mouth tries to institute any kind of standards that would make sense ( not that he would), the idiots just teach TDI. If TDI does something they don't like, they teach IANTD. For instance, currently most of what IANTD requires in its "standards" ( LOL ) are direct violations of DIR. So those IANTD "instructors" who are pretending to teach "DIR" because they think it attracts students that can be fooled merely switch for the moment ( most of them are dually listed) teach TDI in that case because apparently TDI does not have any rule against DIR ( probably because they would not know DIR from DUI). This is a really sad state of affairs where those two large "tech" ( again, LOL ) "training" agencies have to compete for the bottom of the barrel. Now, I see that the Mouth has appointed Joe Ditturi training director, and blames issues on him. Well, Mouth is the one who created this bag of shit, and Ditturi had nothing to do with it. Ditturi, at last check, was in the Navy, and if you look at the most recent IANTD disaster report on here, you will see nothing that the Navy would allow in any respect. Just to prove my point, I will tell you all right now that Joe Ditturi will have zero impact on anything to do with training at IANTD simply because if he even tried to institute what his background would indicate is right, there would be one instructor left at IANTD - himself. They would all be over in Margaritaville with the Slob. -----Original Message----- From: Brian Hunter [mailto:hunter49689@co*.ne*] Sent: Sunday, July 13, 2003 10:30 AM To: 'George Irvine'; girvine@be*.ne*; 'Techdiver@Aquanaut.Com' Subject: RE: [dir-asia] Digest Number 102 George, You're not telling me any thing I don't already know. IANTD and TDI are idiots, but as I said in the last email if you read the owners manual and it says not to use past a certain depth and someone wants you to you simply thumb it and never dive with these strokes again. People MUST take some responsibility for their own actions. The only person that can look out for your safety 100% is your self. They think it means "Buddy Inspiration". I can not believe Joe Ditturi is "training director" and presides over this collection of clowns. Of course, it is Mouth who is responsible for the attitude of these big tough guys, not Ditturi, but as we can see, Mouth is pushing it off on Ditturi. This who incident just exemplifies what a stroke is ( that IANTD "instructor"), typified what is wrong with dive instruction and tech diving, and the part that none of these IANTD morons or other strokes get is that even the dead guy's wife, who says she is not a diver, clearly sees all the issues that any 5 year old child could understand in this situation. That organization and the next one down the food chain ( TDI ) - if you can indeed rank idiocy, mediocrity, lack of integrity, and level of cavalier attitude about human life - need a wakeup call, and everyone who is participating in and or supporting these morons is part of the problem. -----Original Message----- From: Brian Hunter [mailto:hunter49689@co*.ne*] Sent: Saturday, July 12, 2003 10:47 PM To: girvine@be*.ne*; 'Techdiver@Aquanaut.Com' Subject: RE: [dir-asia] Digest Number 102 Sounds to me like the diver should have took some responsibility and not participate in the dive, if he read the owners manual. Of course we all (SHOULD) know that IANTD is the biggest group of idiots in the training business. I hate to hear of anyone dieing but come on use some common sense, if the manual says not to take the unit past 130fsw don't do it! 99% of YOUR safety is common sense. Brian Hunter a. dive in excess of 200 feet; b. perform a staged decompression dive without any formal training or certification; and c. ignore, or failed to supervise, the rebreather manufacturer's written instructions on depth limits and oxygen mixture levels, were in fact heeded and observed. (To quote the owners manual, "it is designed and manufactured for recreational diving, and MUST NOT be used at depths greater than 130 feet or for staged decompression diving"). 5) On this same trip, there were also at least three other separate rebreather dives my husband Julian carried out with Mr. Santos prior to this last tragic dive, that were also made at depths beyond the rebreather manufacturers warnings and limits. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
