Hi Preston-

Actually, I have not done a lot of tech dives. The number of tech dives I
have done is a drop in the bucket compared to some of my friends, and to
those truly accomplished divers, of which JT falls painfully short of.

In my own humble opinion, proficiency and consistency are more important
than depth and time. Only by becoming proficient with the basic skills
needed to perform a technical dive (e.g., buoyancy), and then applying these
and diving consistently, can you become "good" however you manage to define
that. Simply going deep (especially in the self-proclaimed absence of
basic, fundamental diving skills) does not make one a good or safe diver.
This is a point that is obviously lost on JT. Hopefully it won't be lost on
those that choose to dive with him.

The extent or lack of JT's experience has been asked by several individuals.
This is a question that has yet (and may never be) answered by JT. I
won't give a reason why, but allow each reader to formulate their own
answer. However, when one is degrading others for their perceived lack of
experience and is trying to lay down the law, don't you think it at least
appropriate that this person's background be known, so the consumption of
said advice, comments, and knowledge (don't laugh) can be weighed properly?

Cheers,
Mike
