Subject: Inspiration vs. Desperation

Although most of the points you mentioned in a previous email are
technically possible faults, they are extremely unlikely to happen. So the
whole mail sounds in my ears like a "Who fears the black man?"-story.

I'm would like to know, on how many hours of experience with an
Inspiration-unit these warnings are based.
Precisely: How many Cell-Errors and other of the mentioned faults did happen
during this time?

Furthermore I'd like to point out, that some of the mentioned points are
just wrong:

Its easier to maintain buoyancy at a certain depth with a CCR, as soon as
you are used to the fact, that your breathing doesn't influence your
buoyancy at all, i.e. it's just done differently than with OC.
Likewise, its very easy to keep the counterlungs at minimal volume and so
maintain a good position during the dive. This happens subconsciously, as
soon as you've made some 20 dives with a CCR.
Now to the technical points:
Its impossible to calibrate the unit new, while diving. (This was only
possible with the very first units, the software has been changed to make
this impossible some 5 years ago.)
And the clips, which are holding the yellow lid are practically impossible
to break - except on purpose. May be the ones of the very first units (5
years ago) could be broken. I don't know.
Possibly you should update your prejudices: The new Inspirations even
include an automatic diluent valve (from model-year 2003 on).

Most of your other points could be argued with too, but why bother? - You
are just so imprecise.
If the scrubber is too small for you (3 hours of guaranteed dive-time), its
just not the gear for you.

There are some 2000..6000 Inspiration-divers now, and most of them love
their "turtle".
Try diving an Inspiration yourself. If you don't like it, nobody forces you
to dive it.
And if the technical "weak points" are of concern to you: You are free to
modify your unit and address every point you mentioned.

Ralf
