Curt, I find a storyboard, a briefing, and hand-signals work just fine for the lighting guys now everyone has enough helium in the mix. Before that it was like herding a bunch of drunks across a freeway. The only person with whom I need to communicate with any degree of precision beyond hand signals is my cameraman, and again, the helium, the storyboard, and the briefing cover 70% of the work, hand signals cover 20%, grabbing his tanks and turning or swimming him covers 5% and the remaining 5% is covered with the aid of vgorous blows to the back of the head and snappy, to-the-point slate messages such as "Shoot wide or die." etc. >Plus my face gets bad freezer burn when I am diving in 36 degree Lake >Superior water.
