I've had good luck with the cheap all-plastic mechanical pencils, even in salt
water.

Make sure they contain no metal.

After the first dive, I learned that I must leave just a bit of the lead
exposed or they will stick every time.  Leaving a bit of the lead out results
in flawless operation.



I still carry four.
