Have to agree with you on that one ! (Bad design ...)
every rb I've seen had some questionable either designs or was not as 
fully perfected as i could imagine it could be !! (ok ! have had hands 
on with only 3 rb) so I'm no expert ! :)

But I do have quite a few hours on the mk5p which is, in my opinion, 
the best !! (I've tried ..... no flames please this is my opinion if 
anybody cares !

And yes it is usually pilot f***** when somebody bites it on a rb. you 
really need to be trained well and get the routine going !

What ever the list might think of Tom M.  he did teach me the 
importance of paranoia when operating a rb  this includes making 
qualified decision   about the strengths  and weaknesses of the 
equipment you are operating,
I stress operating !  it's like a bike not a hat  ...

My point being that no equipment or configuration will ever be 
perfected to a degree guaranteeing  your survival when it comes to 
diving !
