Subject: Final decompression gas choice?

Ok folks

A quick survey..........

There have been a few odd posts on decompression gas choice etc. My impression
is that it is kind of split between Eanx80 & 100%O2. The reasons given for each
are usually:-

Eanx80 - Nearly as efficient as 100% O2 at inert gas offload gradient, but
safer than
100% in so much as it allows a little leeway @ the 6 metre( 20ft stop) if wave
action etc
is causing difficulty in maintaining stop depth without running into high PpO2
county.
(ie the 'safe window' for usage is down to 10 metres assuming the PpO2 is run
at 1.6 bar max)

100% O2 - Most efficient at inert gas offload, 'physcologically' better than
Eanx80
Often used when in water times need to be as short as possible due to site
conditions.
Very handy to have around a technical diving operation should IWR be required
etc.

These are not my reasons by the way, just comments from various
'expeditionaries'.

What is your preference & why. Do you have a particular protocol you always
follow,
ie - always use a particular Eanx travel gas,run to max narcosis tolerance on
air before
switching to bottom mix, follow 'air break regime', ignore 'air break regime',
etc etc........
