I have a Sherwood Maximus as a primary reg, and a Brut on my pony and have occasionally had free-flow problems on the Brut. This is usually just after service as the technician has set it up for minimum breathing resistance. After getting him to back it off a bit, it is fine. I have also recently purchased a Scubapro Air II and find it an exceptionally easy breathing reg. I haven't had any free flow problems with it yet, but then I've only done a couple of dives with it. The shop I dive with uses exclusively Sherwood magnum regulators for their hire gear due to its reliability and low service costs (due to limited lifetime warranty). On the issue of stage bottles, do people usually leave the valve closed on the bottle until you are ready to use them, or are they left open ?
