The argument that a boat captain is just the "bus driver" is the epitome of stroke thinking. Rule Number One says, "Don't dive with strokes", Option Number One says, "Don't dive" ( if the conditions are not right). Diving on the Seeker is a direct violation of all of the principles of DIR.This list has turned into a touchy feelie forum for some of the worst deviations from the basics of DIR that I have ever encountered anywhere. I see some of you can see my message while most of you have completely missed the boat. You are not going to teach pigs like Danny to sing, and claiming there are no other options is like staying at the bar until 3:00 am and going home with the fat lady. If the bar is full of fat ladies, you don't need to be there. Figure it out. NE wreck diving is the bottom of the barrel, and it is the fault of you people who don't have the freaking balls to do anything about it. I don't want to hear about how some obvious moron is the best choice for doing stupid things. DIR is a little more than breathing the long hose. DIR means you do not participate in Star Wars Bar Scenes like what takes place on the Seeker. It means you don't dive on one boat because you perceive it as just as bad as the rest. It means you get it right or don't go. DIR means you do not deal with an "every man for himself" operation. It means yo do not make excuses for an idiot like Danny who has the worst track record in diving. It means you wake the F*** up and recognize that anyone with the string of accidents, incidents, deaths, CF's and nonsense that this operation has displayed is not doing anything right, and that the whole attitude and mentality of this operation is what is fostering the results it so obviously is getting. Any idiot can see that. Anyone who wants to tell me how tough they are and how they will fend for themselves in a situation like this is a complete moron. You don't know what tough is. Tough is having the balls to tell idiots like this what they are , treat them that way , and not patronize them. If any of you want to come on down here an show me how tough you are in the water and how you can "handle it", I will prove to you that you can even scratch the surface of tough. Maybe that would take some of the BS off of the stroke argument. I believe Andrew and Kane already have proved this to some of the biggest loudmouths up there. DIR means the dive gets planned out properly from start to finish. I means that ridiculous nonsense is not allowed. It means that there are contingencies in place and procedures to deal with situations. It means that the 'personal preference" of the complete jerks that frequent the Seeker are not even remotely considered as legitimate. If you get arrested for violating the law, an ignorance claim is no excuse. If somebody like Danny is doing stupid things, ignorance is no excuse. There is a right and wrong, and this guy is wrong in every respect. Why the hell do you people think diving is so important that you have to deal with an idiot like this? I can see that the people I know who are squared away, like Waldbrenner and other hard core players see it my way, and I can see that the usual suspects do not see it my way. I will bet this list is jammed with idiots who would love to get on here and argue this with me but do not have the nerve to be made asses of , which is all that can happen when you are dead wrong and do not have a leg to stand on. The Seeker is and has always been the bottom of the barrel in this game, and I have said that all along. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
