Subject: poseidon xtreme new regs
Last Tuesday and Monday Poseidon Sweden introduced the new Xtreme regs
in Germany.

While the outer appearance and some technical details can be viewed at
http://www.poseidon.se/, some brief personal notes about which is not so
obvious.
The new scd stage internals are identical with the old Jetstream ( pilot
valve) , but the inhale membrane cover is totally new designed and can
be taken of with just one twist, and the inhale membrane thus be
cleaned. It is housed now pointing backwards to the diver's chin, so not
prone to open demand in a current.
The exhale diaphragm is now a separate one, lying under a front cover,
easy to access. Strange look though. Internal dead space has been
minimized for better performance.

Hoses are the same as old Jetstream. incorporating the opvalve.

The new first stage look very sturdy, and do not deny their ancestor,
the cyklon 300. Indeed they look so simply built that one demands why
they haven't been built like that forever. Except for springs, there are
4 moving parts, hp seat, ballbearing ball, steering needle, upper
diaphragm.
Nothing to be adjusted, not even IP, which is fixed at 8,5 bar by a cap
holding the spring. No adjustment screws here. The ball is said to
revolve while in action, so it would be self cleaning. The needles is
kept in a replacable broce guide shaft. The hp seat floats within bottle
pressure and a strong spring.

Some variants are available, geometrically ( straight in line, and 90
degrees bent) and with respect to different gases ( oxygen, nitrox, as
opposed to air/trimix with low oxygen content( different O-rings)

There is one hp outlet, 2-3 IP ones, according to model. This qualifies
the regs as made for doubletank diving.

Hope this is sufficient, otherwise feel free to ask.

Matthias
