Subject: How does George set his gear and why? Leture update.
Date: Thu, 25 Apr 2002 08:02:01 -0700

Judging from the activity on the lists, I guess this will be timely for some
of us.

As a reminder: Come TAKE ADVANTAGE of *George Irvine’s (Short) lecture* on
5/18/02 in Monterey. He will talk about equipment, deco and answer
questions. You and your friends do not need to be DIR to attend only
interested in why or how it is done.

This is FREE but again I only have so much space and need those interested
to RSVP.

It looks as if Saturday 5/18/02 is shaping up as follows: Monterey
Breakwater.

Morning (10ish): Backplates, Wings, long hose regulators, and
timers/computers will be available to demo. All are welcome bring friends
that have never tried a plate. (open no rsvp needed)

Also note: a GUE instructor will be on hand to explain or answer questions
about their programs.

About Noon: Scooters demos (looking kind of full I may have a spot or two
left but I need to go over my List)

About 4pm: Lecture (open please RSVP)

Will fill you in as more details unfold,

Jt

OLD POST ******************************

George Irvine is scheduled to come to Monterey Bay (Northern California) in
the first part of May. For more information on the kelp forests and dive
sites in the Monterey Bay Area, try the following link:
http://www.montereybaycalifornia.com/diving/home.php3

Scroll down the page to see 360 degree views of some of the dive sites > The
water temperature is expected to be about 52F, but we told George 82F! ;-)

Here is a very brief description of the days planned activities. Please
confirm with me ASAP if you are interested in attending so we can judge how
much space is required. I will try to firm up the date in the next day or
two.

At present the cost is: Zero, nada, free. (Limited to Space availability)

1. In the morning there will be Gavin demos/rides at the breakwater. Here is
the problem...we only have two scooters to lend and two extra battery packs.
Not exactly sure how many people we can rotate in. I am guessing maybe 20 or
so.. (aprox. 15-20 min each w/10 min each on the trigger) We will have a
couple of other Gavins scooters in the water to help escort those people
trying the Gavins, but I have to finalize the list soon to ensure that those
interested get the first spots.

2. If you or your friends want to try backplates or a long hose regulator
set-up, these will also be available. (Great opportunity to share this
set-up with your friends)

3. In the late afternoon George Irvine will give a lecture. I need to know
how many people might attend to see how big of a place I need.

The first Saturday in May, May 4th, is a tentative date and is subject to
change.

Please indicate which of the events you might be interested in, if you plan
on bringing others, etc...

Thanks,

Jt
