Wreck diving is the worst for entanglement due to the fishing lines, wires, the rest of the debris and the current which can pin you helplessly to an object. Everything needs to be cutaway or removable, leaving only the tank valve as a blind spot. For that you have the shears and knife to cut loose, and hopefully the buddy to help you. However, we don't create unnecessary hazards nor do we put gear where it can impede any other gear ( ie, nothing on the backplate at all). Little things need to be in pockets. Reels especially need to be where they will not kill you, as in not ever on your ass in a wreck dive. You need to see somebody caught on a wreck in the Gulfstream current to appreciate how important this is. Otherwise, the mindset of keeping a clean, unobstructed rig is your first indication that somebody has their shit together , at least in their head. -----Original Message----- From: Matthias Voss [mailto:mat.voss@t-*.de*] Sent: Tuesday, April 23, 2002 6:22 AM To: trey@ne*.co* Cc: Allyson; 'Techdiver List (E-mail)' Subject: Re: April 13, 2002; George Irvine's Presentation to Nova Tech Divers Well it works. Easy to stuff it while sitting donning the rig. May be there is still room for improvement. Now, how do I get the sand out of my hair?
