I have been reading the techdiver discussions for a while now with great interest, and finally have a question of my own. I have the DiveRite Transpac II w/ Rec Wing, with the DiveRite lift bag that attaches in the rear, below the wing, by two SS clips to two metal D-rings on the harness. The clips are connected to nylon loops on the lift-bag sleeve, so there are no metal-to-metal-only connections. I have used this on wrecks as well as in thick kelp forests (Southern California) and have seen no problems yet. Are there any strong opinions (or safety concerns) out there regarding this? The thing I like about the DiveRite bag is it's heavy-duty sleeve and convenient storage location in back below tank. It is pretty transparent throughout the dive, yet always accessible (when I reach for it - right hand around right side below wing). A side issue is my carrying a small Halcyon finger-spool on a bolt snap clipped to front chest D-ring. Thanks in advance for any info. This is noteworthy because it contrasts sharply with the psychologically sick person's tendency to be threatened by the unfamiliar, the ambiguous , the unknown.
