Tim,
  No one has ever been "ripped to shreds" for asking questions on this list,
even by GI3.  The ripping starts when someone gets on the list, explains in
detail how "they do it" and than challenges the list to dispute it, all
while in the form of a "question".  Ask a question about DIR and you will
get an answer, ask about personal preference, and you will get an answer,
then you decide which makes more sense and remember to also make sure you
take into consideration the track record of the "teacher".
  Pick up the copy of DIR fundamentals and read it in conjunction with "The
Last Dive", if the right way and wrong way is not obviously clear, sell you
gear and take up golf.

I don't think I would want to do too long a dive but 45 minutes or so isn't
bad.  Jim and I try to get a dive in every month even in the winter.  The
challenge in the winter isn't the cold so much as finding something
interesting to dive.  In the winter we usually don't stray to far and
diving in the Finger Lakes isn't that exciting to start with.

I don't have problem with a difference of opinion but the saying goes
something like catching more flies with honey then vinegar.  In the brief
discussion we had at Beneath the Sea you where able to make your points in
a persuasive way, and as I'm sure you know that's the only way to convince
people your right.  All the name calling on this list and others takes me
back to grade school!

I bet there are plenty of people who are interested in tech diving and have
a question but don't ask because they are afraid of being ripped to shreds!
I see that as the problem.  The DIR mind set would spread a lot faster if
individuals who claim to promote it would change their demeanor.  It gets
to the point where an individual doesn't care if it's right or not, they
just don't want to be involved with that kind of personality.

You must have me confused with a different PADI chap, I was actually
thinking I liked you to much for you to be a DIR evangelist.
