We have a firm date for the Gavin scooter demo and lecture by George Irvine ~ 5/18 Monterey Coastguard Breakwater.... I will update everyone as to the times as we get a closer... Please reconfirm if you plan on attending.. Everything is free!!! See below.... I know that many of you have wanted to dive in the kelp forests of Northern California, and now you have a good excuse! :-) George Irvine is scheduled to come to Monterey Bay (Northern California) in the first part of May. For more information on the kelp forests and dive sites in the Monterey Bay Area, try the following link: http://www.montereybaycalifornia.com/diving/home.php3 Scowl down the page to see 360 degree views of some of the dive sites > The water temperature is expected to be about 52F, but we told George 82F! ;-) Here is a very brief description of the days planned activities. Please confirm with me ASAP if you are interested in attending so we can judge how much space is required. I will try to firm up the date in the next day or two. At present the cost is: Zero, nada, free. (Limited to Space availability) 1. In the morning there will be Gavin demos/rides at the breakwater. Here is the problem...we only have two scooters to lend and two extra battery packs. Not exactly sure who many people we can rotate in. I am guessing maybe 20 or so.. (aprox. 15-20 min each w/10 min each on the trigger) We will have a couple of other Gavins scooters in the water to help escort those people trying the Gavins, but I have to finalize the list soon to ensure that those interested get the first spots. 2. If you or your friends want to try backplates or a long hose regulator set-up, these will also be available. (Great opportunity to share this set-up with your friends) 3. In the late afternoon George Irvine will give a lecture. I need to know how many people might attend to see how big of a place I need. REVISED SATURDAY 5/18 >>>>>The first Saturday in May, May 4th, is a tentative date and is subject to change. Please indicate which of the events you might be interested in, if you plan on bringing others, etc... Thanks, Jt -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
