I was told the same thing about aviator's oxygen and medical oxygen AND 
welding oxygen. They are all pulled from the same tank of oxygen and that 
the difference between medical and aviator's was exactly as you have 
described. I was first told this by three large distributors of gases in 
1985 and was told the same thing four years ago when the issue came up 
among some divers. Why doesn't everyone on the net call their local gas 
dealer and ask the same question and post the answers. Come on it'll take 
five minutes of your time.
