I just show up every day and so something, but I have done that all my life and merely have to maintain now. I can tell you that if you do not make it a routine, it will be very hard by the time you reach my age to catch up. The aerobic base needs to be built, maintained, and the strength needs to be maintained. I did do an Iron Man triathlon in 1999, but that is the only year that I did anything excessive in terms of workout. Right now Pina and I run or do cardio machines and then lift at the gym every day after work. In the summer I add in swimming in the morning. Interestingly, I still have the same strength in terms of weightlifting and nearly the same sprint speed as I did when I was 20, and weigh within a few pounds of what I always weighed. Fitness is must for diving, strength and cardio are a must combination for getting rid of the fat, keeping the bones strong, keeping the circulation good, and producing the hormones necessary to stay that way. -----Original Message----- From: Ferry Ouwerkerk [mailto:ferry.ouwerkerk@wa*.nl*] Sent: Thursday, February 28, 2002 12:22 PM To: Techdiver@Aquanaut.Com Subject: fitness, Re: no reply, pls George, what suggestions do you have about workout schedules, type of training, duration, times a week, since it's the obvious step before doing any of the dives discussed here. Ferry ----- Original Message ----- From: George Irvine To: Techdiver@Aquanaut.Com Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2002 2:30 AM Subject: no reply, pls OK, now that the usual suspects seem to be finished disrupting the list, let's go back to our discussions. Need another common profile and we can go over what works and why it works. Let me also suggest that the Seeker crowd, the dive "instructors", and the known idiots please go over to the IANTD list. I will personally pay your fees over there if you are not a member to get you off of here. Otherwise, maybe one of the big mouthed strokes could put up a list for the information-challenged and relieve the rest of us of the burden of their bullshit. Maybe TDI has a list , or Hal Watts ( LOL). George Irvine 954-328-2611 - Call me if you have something worthless to say and see how you do with me in person, and spare the list your nonsense. Please don't answer this, other than with a profile for discussion - a common profile, not a bungee jump. We need to get this clear so people don't walk away with half truths or misconceptions, which is exactly what the morons who disrupted this discussion would like to see happen. . ------=_NextPart_000_0015_01C1C0EB.8D26C3A0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.50.4522.1800" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><SPAN class=3D976443111-01032002><FONT face=3DArial color=3D#0000ff = size=3D2>You'd=20 have to ask Cameron Martz about that one.
