Looking through the stuff that's available on it, and also reading
through some of BW's papers, I see what you mean.  He does say that
there is an unmodified form of the algorithm out there, and (I think)
the newest version of Abyss will let you pick the unadulterated version
if you wish.  VPM, like GF can be made wimpier than PADI no-deco tables
if you want.
Personally, I'd like to get some software that does pure RGBM
calculations to run calculations, but right now I'm reading through the
papers so I understand what its all about.  This a difficult task for
someone who last did differential equations when Gerald Ford was
president;)
