Widen Subject: Nova Tech - First Meeting - Great attendance & response! The first meeting of Northern Virginia Technical Diving Community (NOVA TECH) was held at the Main Street USA on Little River Turnpike in Annandale, VA this evening. This community is the result of like-minded divers wanting to embrace what is deemed the to be the safest method of technical oriented diving, DIR (Doing It Right). The stated goal of NOVA TECH is to move towards and outline a path for its attendees to become DIR divers. NOVA TECH is not comprised of instructors seeking students, and is not a club. It is a loose group of divers who meet to discuss technical diving. NOVA TECH is the brainchild of Todd Clagett, active technical diver with VB Tech of Virginia Beach, VA. Tonight's discussion consisted of presentations by Todd Clagett, Allyson Clagett and Dave Dalton. Allyson Clagett & Dave Dalton are also active technical divers with VB Tech. Tonight's topics were basic gear configuration of the DIR diver including regulator hose routing, wings, backplates, canister & backup lights, drysuits, argon bottles. In excess of 20 divers attended this evening and the response was very favorable. Several divers decided to go to Mt. Storm this weekend for practice dives (better to do it in 55 degrees than 42 degrees!). Todd, Allyson & Dave will all be there to assist with gear configuration questions. If you would like to join us, e-mail me for directions and times. Currently it looks like folks might be going up Saturn (2/16) & Sunday (2/17). If you would like a better understanding of the DIR diver, join us for our next monthly meeting. Meeting times and locations will be posted on the NOVA TECH web site (designed by Allyson Clagett) located at: http://home.earthlink.net/~toddclagett/NovaTech/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
