If you don't have the personal experience with your system to know how
much gas you need then you shouldn't be doing this dive.

There is no way to calculate your buoyancy gas requirements except
from experience.

It depends on how you control your buoyancy. If you like to add and
purge often then you will use more than if you like to try to minimize the
usage.

It depends on you rig: if you use aluminium tanks your buoyancy gas
requirements may be different from using steel tanks.

The way you do your decompression and the sea conditions may
affect your usage. Do you like to hang slightly negative on a surface
buoy or do you like to try and stay neutral.

The temperature may affect your usage. On cold days I find that
regularly dumping and refilling my suit helps me stay comfortable.
How much clothing you wear under your suit will also affect your
buoyancy.

Having said all that, I normally use a 3L pony for my drysuit inflation and
on dives to 50m with bottom times around 30 to 45 minutes, I've never
used more than 30 or 40 Bar for buoyancy. That's less than 20% of the
cylinder's content.
