7' is fine for single tank.  I use it.  5' also works great.  Use the 7 like
you normally would by tucking it under the canister and wrapping accross the
chest behind the head and in the mouth.  With no cannister, just tuck it in the
waistband.  The 5' hose (which I've tried and like, but don't own one) has a
very similar routing.  Instead of going under the canister, just run it under
your right arm, across the chest, behind the head and in the mouth.
