People are people, they do not always ascribe to the ways that they officially endorse. Not sometimes anyway. In my own (considerably more humble) way, I am exactly the same. For example, I'm not, never have been, an Instructor of any kind, yet if I meet novices I am all for the "buddy" system. Do I believe in it for conventional SCUBA? Absolutely not. Horses for courses, these are NOVICES, yet to properly learn. So what? Don't you realise that, even in the world of Techdiver, it is sometimes better to be seen as a "do as I say, not as I do" diver? If, indeed, this is the case. > Now, there are times when I do advocate buddy diving, and times when > I don't. As above, and they are right in being that dogmatic (pun intended). > So, logically then, the assumption would be that Pina is a stroke > diver, since she was solo diving. I don' t know if she was, I wasn't there. If she was, then so be it. If she was and I met her under water (I am on record as being a "self sufficient" diver) and I had a life-threatening problem, why, I am quite certain that she'd be one of the few people that I'd *really* like to meet up with, in my panic, in that circumstance.
