I did a couple of mix dives this weekend as part of a trimix course, and in the
process answered a question I had posted to this list. The question was, does
a latex (in my case, Viking) dryhood keep your head warm when breathing
trimix, since the hood is inflated with exhaled bottom mix? The answer is,
not very well, at least not for the 18/40 mix I was breathing. My head
definitely felt cold, although the water I was diving in was very cold (under
40F). The rest of the drysuit was inflated with argon, which helped keep me
warm overall.

My overall impression of mix diving was pretty positive. The decompression
takes a lot more discipline than air, especially if (like me) you tend to use a
computer. Using two stagebottles is a little awkward, since my normal gear is
configured for one, and bouyancy control is somewhat tricky. On the other
hand, it's great to be deep and still feel like you are in the shallow end of
the pool.
