+/- 2 lb is still half to one-third of your tidal volume, a bit to much to
control by breathing alone throughout the whole dive. Why pay constant
attention and spend energy on fighting negative and then positive buoyancy?
Why not weight corrrectly, compensate for gas weight with your bc, be
perfectly neutral, relaxed and save energy for important stuff.  I'm well
aware of how it was done before, because I started my diving with double
hose reg., no BC and had to use all kind of tricks to not either plow the
bottom or float like a cork. BCs were invented to allewate these problems,
so why not use them correctly?
