Here in North Carolina atleast... When you go to gas supplier to get your O2, you have three choices, welders grade, medical grade and aviators grade. The differences are (at least in this area) the welders grade tanks are merely topped off for the O2 fill, the mediacl grade tanks are drained and filled, and the aviators tanks are drained, and filled with with O2 that has been more closely analyzed for moisture content. Guess which one is the most expensive. Does all the O2 come from the same place? Maybe so. I would not recommend the use of welders grade. The point is that there are very few commercial shops not mixing by partial pressures. If I've got the equipment to safely mix using partial pressures why shouldn't I do it! However, we all know the risks associated by mixing partial pressures. If you add the O2 at your house and then take the tanks to the commercial shop for a top off with air, and don't tell them what your up to THAT'S NOT VERY ETHICAL. The guy pumping the tank has the right to know what's in it to start with. USE SOME COMMON SENSE! Safe Diving! Jody
