Hi Martin,

I guess I misunderstood your message below.

I thought you said that only the green models required a special software
program to switch between metric and imperial. And my message was to say
that many more Vypers, other than the green ones, need the program to switch.
My gray Vyper could not be switched intentionally without the program (which
my dive shop did not have).

Are you now saying that even with the program, the green ones cannot switch
between metric and imperial? Because if you are, then this is news to me.

Take care and dive safe, Scott

Some weeks it's just not worth the effort to gnaw through the restraints and
scramble up out of the pit.

There you go... that means that your gray Vyper can be changed between
imperial to/from metric. Ask your local distributor about this feature. Only
the green models cannot be interchanged...trust me. If not, maybe the models
in your country are different from mine.

Regards,
Martin

Hi Erik,

I believe all Vypers can display values in either metric or imperial.
However as Martin mentioned, some of them need a special software program to
switch between the two. Contrary to what Martin reported, I have found that
the color of the computer does not necessarily imply one type or the other.

My gray Viper displayed imperial only until someone at a dive shop did
something wrong when changing the battery and then it was only metric. I
needed to send the computer back to the company to get it changed back to
imperial because all the dive shop could say was "it isn't our fault."

Take care and dive safe, Scott

<< Erik,

What is the color of your Vyper model? The black and gray color models allow
you to switch between metric to/from imperial. The green model (which I
have) needs a special software to be able to do this. You can ask your local
distributor to set the measurement system you prefer.

Hope this helps. Regards,
Martin Lorenzo

Subject: Metric Vyper?

Hello all,

I have a Suunto Vyper and I'm very pleased with it, however, someone I know
just bought one and has a problem...

My Vyper, and I'm sure most everybody's on this list has the option to
display units as metric or imperial. The version my friend has will ONLY
display in metric! He is not very happy with his Vyper since he is averse
to mixing metric with diving.

I you read the manual there is no mention of being able to switch the format
of the displayed units (but the option is there). Secondly, there is a
sentence that states that the Vyper is subject to manufacturing changes
Is the metric only Vyper a new development? Or are there different models
of the Vyper?

Regards,
Erik
