Anybody read about the dive expedition in Rodales December issue??? Pg 99, there is an article about a dive to 280' in order to research a brine seep in the Gulf of Mexico. I don't think any of these guys are DIR, but they sure do use a lot of the equipment and configuration, going as far as citing the Gavin scooter as being crucial to their dive's success. Seems to me whats happening is that these guys are exposing the public to these deeper diving concepts, but saying that Doing it Close Enough is okay. And if you have the Bucks you can do the dives. Ahhh the Padi way shines through yet again. Any thoughts??
