I just received my DUI CF200 in the mail and tried it on last night. Yes,
the boots are large and require large fins which I must purchase. I was
surprised to find that the wrist and neck seals are very small and cut off the
blood supply in the hands and neck. I realize that these seals (latex) must
be trimmed to give a snug , but not tight fit. Does anyone have experience
with the trimming process which is briefly described in the manual? I plan to
use this suit with my Morse and Miller-Dunn helmets(and SCUBA) using an
airhose. The helmet is used like a shallow water helmet (inverted bucket) and
only for uw videography scenes. In the past, I have connected a 50' hose to a
first stage and AL80 tank. The other end the hose is connected to an air valve
,hose whip and helmet. The assembly is lowered in the water to 50-70 feet with
a rope. I don scuba and enter the water, swim to the bottom with a safety
diver, photographers and a videographer. I remove my mask, clip it onto the BC
, remove the regulator and don the helmet, cracking the air valve. I walk
around through a kelp forest while being videotaped...it makes for good video.
The inflator valve on the CF200 was moved 3" down to accomodate the
breastplate. The scuba tank becomes a bailout bottle during the helmet dive.
The reason for not supplying air from the boat is to avoid liability problems
and using a tender who is not properly trained. The Al80 lasts about 20
minutes at 50'. The tank pressure is monitored by the safety diver. Don't ask
me why I do this. I started diving with helmets back in the 1950's and find
that they are a lot of fun. I have done this at 70' off Catalina and San
