Not everybody knows all that alphabet soup of initials. Oops, Sorry. Yep KMB is a Kirby Morgan. The 17 is the helmet type (now superseded by the 27) it is a fiberglass shell that covers your whole head. It has a front port that you look through (if there is anything to see) and the air is delivered by a second stage that looks a lot like a us divers metal type (I think the KMB came first) or by a vent that comes in at eyebrow level. The neck ring can be locked into a neck dam, or onto a drysuit if it has the right neck seal. Your whole head stays warm and dry, comms work *great* and they are very rugged and reliable. There is an oral nasal mask inside that cuts down on dead air space, that is also very comfortable, and there is a nose peg for clearing your ears that you can pull out of the way when not using it. I wish I could afford one :) Cheers Jason :)
