first ... sincere condolances to all who will miss eric.
i'm a nono diver from Holland; here in Holland we have some maillist and we
have a discussion about your report. We all have read it more than once but we
still have questions about some phrases; i.e.
- I hit the bottom at run time 1 minute and put my depth guage in the sand to
get a bearing on the wreck location which was not in view. Depth was 268
??? this means you descended 268 feet in 1 minute ... in 1.5 knot current
According the Inspiration divers in our mailgroup it is impossible to descend
faster than 60 feet/minute in a safe way; under optimal conditions and 300+
hours on Inspiation maybe 75 feet/minute.
What kind of wing did you use; we calculated you had about 10 .. 15kg
overweight for that descending speed?
Please can you inform us a littlebit more about this item.
- visability was about 40 -45 .... and looked up and saw Eric about 30 ft above
me and slightly behind me, next to my line. I did
not see him having any problems at this time.
??? is underwater sight in Florida that good at 270 feet.
Here in Holland we learn as Padi Rescue to look into your buddy's face to see
how he is functioning "between the ears"
even in Greece and the Red See you cannot do that over a distance of 30 feet
when you are under 90 feet of water without Light.
In Holland we never shine our lights in someone face, otherwise he's blinded
for some time; and Eric was still descending with 268 feet/minute.
Do we miss something ?
