Sorry to post this to the world, but I'm looking for divers, wherever they may be: During the months of June through August, 1995, the Town of Wayland, Massachusetts, USA, will be paying two or more divers to pull Eurasian Water Milfoil and Curly Leaf Pondweed from Dudley Pond. This is tedious, *HARD* work in shallow water (<10 feet) with visibility that ranges from 5 feet to 0 feet (once the silt has erupted with the pulling of the exotic vegetation). The divers will be expected to work three hours per day, five days per week. They will be paid $45/hour. No ancillary expenses (e.g., travel, air, equipment) will be paid. The divers must have at least an "Advanced" certification from a certification agency (e.g., PADI, NAUI, BSAC, CMAS, SSI, NASDS, PDIC), and they must have their own insurance. The divers will be trained and managed by John Hicks-Courant of the Divers' Environmental Survey, Inc., a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the restoration and preservation of fresh- and saltwater habitats. If you or anybody you know is interested, please send inquiries to: jhc@wo*.st*.co* To me, this looks like an ideal summer job. If any of you or anybody you know agrees with me, please get in touch. John H-C P.S. If any of you techdivers are wondering why I posted on your list: I suspect there are a several lurkers on your list who would like to do commercial work, and this is real commercial work, with all the tedium and real-world effort that commercial work requires.
