Christian, Think the soft coral capitol of the world should be either Okinawa, where I reside, or Ponape. Have never been to Ponape, but have heard the soft corals are incredible. On this island, at some of the dive sites, there are ridges upon ridges of different species of soft coral. This is not to disparage the beautiful growths on the wrecks in Truk. My favorite wrecks there are the Shinkoku for corals and other sea life, and the San Francisco for weapons of war. However I often say to people that visit (for example) Chuuk (Truk) that they should take particular note of the soft coral since the place, being a lagoon and largely protected, is likely to be the soft coral capital of the world. I once spent well over twenty minutes ascending up a mast from twelve to six metres, in absolute awe of all that prolific and exquisite growth, then looked down and there was a whole ship, that I could see from stem to stern. Life was good. It's, as I said, what your own perspective is. Christian PS Dr Black, I made a typo Bi_m_ini/Bi_k_ini. It happens that "k" and "m" are rather adjacent, at least on the keyboard that I am used to. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
