Hal,

I have had experience with a pinger/locator made by Helle. The pinger is
attached to an object (like an anchor) and the locator is carried by the diver.
The locator is large; about the size of a big flashlight, and not too practicle
for a wreck diver who's loaded with other gear. It worked OK, but no better
than a compass (where applicible) but is not a panacea.

I've seen ads for three different underwater beacons/reciever systems that
allow a diver to mark something like an anchor line and return to the same
spot. The devices and alittle about each, per the ads follows. Has anyone
had experience with any of them?

Here they are:

By RJE International, Inc.:

1. Dive-Trak: range 100 meters; depth rating 330 ft. Cost: unknown

2. Mark-Trak: range 330 meters; depth rating 1000ft. Cost: unknown

By Desert Star Systems:

3. DiveTracker Sport: range up to 2000 feet; depth rating 1000feet. Cost: $499.

Anyone have more information? Are there other systems?
