Hal, I have had experience with a pinger/locator made by Helle. The pinger is attached to an object (like an anchor) and the locator is carried by the diver. The locator is large; about the size of a big flashlight, and not too practicle for a wreck diver who's loaded with other gear. It worked OK, but no better than a compass (where applicible) but is not a panacea. The devices and alittle about each, per the ads follows. Has anyone had experience with any of them? Here they are: By RJE International, Inc.: 1. Dive-Trak: range 100 meters; depth rating 330 ft. Cost: unknown 2. Mark-Trak: range 330 meters; depth rating 1000ft. Cost: unknown By Desert Star Systems: 3. DiveTracker Sport: range up to 2000 feet; depth rating 1000feet. Cost: $499. Anyone have more information? Are there other systems?
