Subject: Re: Stroke/DIR binaries
Sorry Suds just went and looked it up.
I wanted to make SURE I knew what we were suppoosed to be talking abiout as I
also was hazey on the
subject. here's what I found and where.

I'll quote;
according to

Funk & Wagnalls
NEW
INTERNATIONAL
DICTIONARY
of the
ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Comprehensive Edition

Vol. 2
page 1180

slan-der (slan'der)
n. A false tale or report, or such tales or reports collectively, uttered with
malice and designed or tending to injure the
reputation of another; calumny; also, the utterance of such tales or reports;
defamation.
See synonyms under SCANDAL. --v.t. To injure by maliciously uttering a false
report; defame; calumniate. -- v.t.
To utter slander. See synonyms under ABUSE, ASPERSE, REVILE. [<AF esclaundre,
OF esclandre, ult, <L scandalum. Doublet of SCANDAL.] -- slan'der-ous-ly adv.
-- slan'der-ous-ness n.

Then we find same book same page as next word;

slan-der-ous (slan'der-as)
adj. 1. Uttering slander; guilty of slander. 2. Containing slander; calumnious.
-- slan'der-ous-ly
adv. -- slan'der-ous-ness n.

It appeares that by the english defination someone say in rec.scuba who got
pissed at say Trey and then trying to make Trey look bad or even to get even
for a perceived or even real offense taken started giving reports that could be
proven false could easely be guilty of Slander at least by the english
defination if not by LAW.

This I think is something well worth thinking about don't you?
