I actually lost a watch jumping in the water, diving in (not SCUBA). 
It had a velcro band and just popped right off.  All my instruments 
are now attached to my wrist with two independent shock cord loops. 
It's less hassle to don than the standard watch (or dive computer) 
straps, and it's more secure.
