To look in a more detailed way into the poseidons , here it is: > not the least of which > is the upstream valve, This is only in the Jetstream second stage, formerly known as maximum , in fact , I believe, the names still differ in some countries. > the opv in the hose, only true for the maximum, not the Cyclon or Triton ( don't buy this reg) The 5000 first stage has an integrated OPV , only because the Triton doesn't have it in the hose. the special fittings and hoses, True. In former days, they even had R 1/8 threads for hp _and_ lp ! Still lots of this around, because you can't beat them dead. But of no importance in recreational diving , where exchanging regs is of no importance. > the fact that you can not scooter with one without taping over it or it > fills with water, I did not try that. May be the jetstream, but not with the cyclon. But don`t other regs freeflow then as well ? At which speed are you scootering then ? The cyclon does not draw water at 3.5 knots, fastest what I am able to swim with competition fins, better swimmers do this with this reg at more than 5 knots. I once had the pleasure to read the stopwatches.. > and you can not pass one off without it being full of > water. Try this with another reg upside down. See what I mean. To get the water out, is to understand the geometry. The water must have a path down to the exhale diaphragm, so it is just to bend your had a little to the side. Most beginners are worried about the water, but only until they know the trick. Besides, the oceanic showerheads are far worse in this respect. becuase they do not even have a "sump" for the preexpelled water to collect > Quit being such a fucking moron. The other ones run IP's that are > ridiculously high. If it is too high for you, easy adjust it down. It requires a IP gauge, and a 4 mm alllen head key. A matter of seconds, and the regs will just work fine. Very nice feature for testing other second stages, or making a low budget test bank ( set IP to 20bar T-switched to first stage under test, hp gauge outlet to T-switch for 200bar . The Jetstream will work from 7-13 bar, dito the cyclon. LLatter will breath harder, former easier with a bit lowerde IP. I found the Jetstreams I serviced worked best and most comfortable with an IP of 9.5 bar. >Everything Poseidon makes is bullshit, No, the first stages are great, and the ruggedness of the 2nd is unsurpassed. Ruggedness, structural stability, not functionality, get what I mean. I like the apeks better, though, because of simpler design. I cannot say much in terms of ruggedness, as I have only some hundred dives on them, much less than with the Poseidons cyklon, but what I expect is they'll do pretty fair. >and they refuse to > see how to correct the problems they have , and of course being hard headed > Swedes, they do not even admit that there are any problems. I agree for calling them a bit hard headed, at least with their ( now gone) rejection of auto dump valves and clinging to slippery latex boot soles....at least , after 30 years, you can have solid soles now... > mess like that? We do not even allow the stupid things in the WKPP. Remember what I wrote are facts. You have your reasons for not using them at WKPP. I did in no way object to that. I was just trying to give some facts why these regs deserve attention in condition which do not preclude their use. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
