Godwin's Law, proverb, [Usenet] "As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one." There is a tradition in many groups that, once this occurs, that thread is over, and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever argument was in progress. Godwin's Law thus practically guarantees the existence of an upper bound on thread length in those groups. Scott "Legend has it that Dr. Einstein once asserted that he could think of only two things which were infinite: the universe and human stupidity - and that sometimes he had doubts about the first." - Jeff Cooper ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Cobb" <cobber@ci*.co*> To: <c3po@im*.dk*>; <techdiver@aquanaut.com> Sent: Monday, July 09, 2001 10:40 AM Subject: Re: Tek diver equivalencies > Does the "nazi" thread rule- > > Rule #2834.832b: "When a thread degenerates to the point of one party > calling the other a Nazi, the thread is hereby, and officially, declared > dead." > > apply to mentions of Aldoph Hitler (or Bill Gates for that matter)? > > Jim > ------------------------------------------------------------------- > Learn About Trimix at http://www.cisatlantic.com/trimix/ > > > From: c3po@im*.dk* > > Reply-To: c3po@im*.dk* > > Date: Mon, 9 Jul 2001 14:18:14 GMT > > To: techdiver@aquanaut.com > > Subject: Re: Tek diver equivalencies > > > > "Chris Elmore" > > You sound like Bill Gates or Adolf Hitler > > > > > > Søren Ravn > > Denmark > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Chris Elmore" <elmorec@at*.ne*> > > To: "Rasto Janota" <janota@sk*.co*>; "Techdiver konferencia" > > <techdiver@aquanaut.com> > > > > Sent: Monday, July 09, 2001 6:16 AM > > Subject: Re: Tek diver equivalencies > > > > > >> Bad Good > >> **** **** > >> TDI GUE > >> IANTD > >> NSS-CDS > >> ANDI > >> NACD > >> ITD > >> ITDA > >> (others) > >> > > -- > > Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'. > > Send subscribe/unsubscribe requests to `techdiver-request@aquanaut.com'. > > > > > -- > Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'. > Send subscribe/unsubscribe requests to `techdiver-request@aquanaut.com'. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
