No, WKPP was booted out for three months while Bill Stone and his gang were allowed a shot at the brass ring. They failed miserably, and in the process Henry Kendall killed himself diving solo on a Cis Lunar - apparently went marching off into shallow water with the oxygen not plugged in correctly, or so that was the first version of the story. You see Kendal was a functional moron: he held a PhD in physics, was a professor at M.I.T., and held a Nobel Prize in physics. I believe the "quark" was one of his discoveries. The second version of the story was of course the "heart attack", and then they said "stomach ulcers". Apparently electronic rebreathers cause people to lie. We had one of our buddies investigate this under the Freedom of Information Act, and got the ME's report - death by hypoxia". The Miami Herald ran a story exposing the liars on this one ( another of my pals ). Of course, I did get blamed for his death: the State said that if I had cooperated with Stone and run the diving there, no accidents would have occurred. Jarrod told them this was exactly true - the reason being I would have not let any of those people in the water in the first place.
