Here is his message reformatted:- IMHO Making speculations and theorising about what may or may not have happened in the case of the girl that got bent on a computer is ridiculous. It's like reading and article about a car accident and all that the article said was that the car was equipped with a digital speedometer, authorities think that this may have had something to do with the crash. There just wasn't enough info given to make any kind of statement about this incident. In diving even with a computer there are too many variables to make broad statements about what happened. What was obvious to me was she thought that she did not deserve to get bent. IMHO and drawing from the data available she did deserve to get hit. Basic rules are: do your deepest dive first then the next deepest then the next. She broke that rule. The second rule was: know you limits, She obviously didn't as most new divers don't; it's not their fault they just don't have the experience. The third rule she broke was: plan your dive, dive your plan (from the report it sounded like she relied entirely on her computer) Let me rephrase my original statement There just wasn't enough info to make any kind of definitive statement as to why she got bent. Let's not go and blame her computer. Jeff Weidner
