The survey was conducted by BP Amoco PLC and Shell Oil Co. The sub lies near the wreck of the SS Robert E. Lee which the U-166 had sunk on July 30, 1942. The U-boat was sunk shortly after that attack. The wreck was found 45 miles from the mouth of the Mississippi River in about 5,000 feet of water by an ROV. Anyone have more Info?
