I picked up DUI's Dry5 non-integrated gloves a couple of years ago. I love 'em. Used to live in Minnesota and now live in Maine so they're a standard part of my set-up year-round. Despite the insulation that is built into them, during the Winter/Fall I found adding a pair of thin wool gloves underneath helps to assist in keeping my hands warm. They are a bit troublesome to put on at first but you get used to the drill: Pull the gloves on, set the latex seals against your skin then set the dry-suit seal over them. You'll definitely lose a few arm hairs on removal after the dive...especially if ask your buddy for help and they simply yank 'em off ya! Yeow! I have never found them to be cumbersome at depth moving my digits. As along as you leave plenty of air in them on the surface (i.e.. go in with fat hands) you won't get squeezed too badly. Slight seal leaking only occurs when you raise your arms over your head at depth: the gas in the arms of your suit tends to burps out at little at the wrists seals. Manageable. If your budget doesn't allow for integrated gloves, these are a solid option. Right now I have a CF200 with latex wrist seals. I am looking at putting in dry gloves. I'm not interested in a locking ring system, as I don't want a tear in a glove to mean a flooded suit. I'm interested in rings that allow me to retain a latex wrist seal, but pull the dry gloves over the cuff rings to make a watertight seal. I also like the idea that I can replace wrist seals in field. I know people who use the Viking system, and it looks good. Does anyone else have experience with other systems like the Bare (I frequent a shop that stocks Bare, and would rather buy from them if the product is good) or the DUI systems? Any advice appreciated. Ben -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
