This past Saturday, May 19th, a group of 10 divers from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania gathered informally at Dutch Springs in Nazareth, PA for what turned out to be a fantastic day, learning about DIR diving. Bob Sherwood, GUE instructor from All About Scuba in Vestal, NY, and two of Bob's associates generously donated their time to spend the day with us. Bob talked about equipment configuration issues and helped a few of us fine-tune our rigs. Bob showed us equipment from Halcyon, entertained many questions about DIR diving and held our attention well into the afternoon. We did get to do some diving, too. In the water, Bob put my wife's UW video setup to good use. The post-dive analysis was alone worth the price of admission! Thanks to Bob and company, all in attendance came away with a better understanding of DIR and some skills to work on. We'll be getting together at Dutch Springs again this coming Sunday, May 27th, starting at 8AM. Unfortunately, this time we won't have Bob's help - perhaps we can persuade him to come down once or twice more before the local dive season is over. At any rate, we're planning to spend some time in the water working on those things we learned on Saturday. We'll have the video camera along this time, too. If you're interested in joining us, come on down! Directions to Dutch Springs and other information about the site can be found at: http://www.dutchsprings.com We plan to meet at the end of the road to the penninsula, on the right hand side under the trees.
