Chris, Been there. I would strongly recommend against the partial opening bit. It does not take very long to completely close a fully open valve and sitting there with a valve that's half open trying to figure out which way is clockwise, behind your back, in an emergency, is a true CF. If you don't fill your own tanks, try taking a full tank and open the valves all the way. It takes several minutes to completely empty. 3 or 4 turns of a knob takes 10 seconds max. Its a no brainer.
