I think with George's comments below it is quite telling to revisit the 
death of Tony Maffatone (and many others).  When the pictures of his rig 
came to light there were two basic camps.  One said it was stupid and the 
guy was going to die in this convoluted rig.  The other camp applauded 
Tony's ingenuity and resourcefulness and was appalled by the "hate speech" 
of the first camp.

However, the discussion was short lived when only a few weeks later Tony 
himself became short lived.  It gives one cause for thought, don't 
it???  Lets do the math real quick:

Personal preference = 70+ dead in the last few years.
DIR = 0 Dead in the same period.

It would seem that if you wish to end up fish food PP has it all over 
DIR.  However, if you want to see your family, friends and other loved ones 
then DIR is a clear winner.

I don't know whether it's the gear, the attitude or a combination of both 
but I can sure tell the difference between 70+ dead bodies and 0 dead bodies.
