Is that your Deep Thought for the day Mike? Thanks. There's actually a few reasons why some divers avoid DIR... DIR gear is minimalist and streamlined so it does nothing to stroke the egos of the "wow look at me aren't I clever for diving such a complex rig" crowd. Some want the gratification without paying the price - DIR has a price - discipline and procedure. Personal preference, on the other hand, doesn't appear to have a price. DIR requires you to think through your dive to the end and cover all contingencies. This is beyond the mental ability of some. And exceeds the attention span of others. Not invented here - a form of bigotry that automatically excludes anything developed by divers from other places who "aren't as good as us and don't know anything about our unique dive conditions either" Hubris - some people are so up themselves they can't stand the idea that someone else might have developed a much better system than they ever could. They think their balls will drop off if they dive DIR. Hey, they're probably right. rgds billyw --=====================_9819025==_.ALT Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" <html> At 04:14 4/04/01 , MMikeodin@ao*.co* wrote:<br> <blockquote type=cite cite>In einer eMail vom 04.04.01 05:13:26 (MEZ) - Mitteleurop.
