Subject: Canister Lights / Bitz


I am seriously considering making my own canister light ( I have a machine 
shop ). In the UK a NiMh dive light is approaching 400 GBP for some versions.

Couple of questions arise that might be on a path that has been trodden 
before :-

Anyone know why most use NiCad / NiMh cells and not those sealed lead acid 
Gel batteries ?

Connectors are a problem area - I believe that some of the scooters use a 
type of waterproof connector - does anyone have details of them ?
